Crew : Butty, Kersh, Pete, Dunc, PTD
Route : RB , War memorial, Lidgetts, Half Kerridge bridleway, Oakenbank, Pott Shrigley, Moorside La, The Chapel, Long Lane, Stypersons, Towpath,Poachers
Weather : Slightly damp under the tyres , but it stayed dry after the pre-ride deluge. Mild and autumnal
Notes :
A small crew on a smallish circuit , but the rain had stopped just before 6pm and we were all glad to be out.
Kersh finally made a ride, and Paul was on a 4 day week so a relaxed vibe was set for the evening.
By the end of Hedge Row on Spuley Lane Dunc suddenly stopped and was muttering expletives , he had somehow managed to lose his Exposure rear light ..so he turned tail and retraced his steps hoping to find it.
The rest of us headed onward to the Brickworks , and then a visit to The Chapel .
(As we passed through Pott Shrigley we marvelled at the enormous bit of groundwork going on in the corner property – giant concrete lego bricks !!)
Fortunately we had no “TJ-type-offs” on the stream crossing en route to the Chapel , and in the fading light we headed off to Long Lane . Bugger all traffic makes this lane a good route back .
We had reached the top of Stypersons Wood on long lane. As we drew closer I clocked two sets of bike lights and realised that Kersh had met up with Dunc again .
“Bad news boys: the Queen is dead” .
And in the Poachers we raised our glasses to our departed Queen and to King Charles the third. Paul led the toast. We got the big table (normally reserved for the WNBs) , although we were only four.
2022 Inflation hits big . After economical Dortmunder lagers, Paul breaks ranks and a 6.2% Deya IPA is ordered . £7 …ouch. One in , all in…..and then to Whisky .
