words and pics by Pete

Crew : Troll, El Pres, Bern and Pete

Pub : Dunc & Lord Kershaw of West Bollingtonia

Route :
BL, Tea Rooms, Shining Tor, Hooleyhey Lane, dead man’s hill (aka Ewrin Lane) , Poachers.

Notes:
Oh the absence excuses came thick and fast this week ….taking selfies in front of the Golden Gate Bridge….dealing with the in-laws…preparing the Campervan….camping in Peterborough ….where will it end ?
Once more we were teased by Lord Kershaw with a promise that he would join us….but alas, we were let down again (but he did turn up in the Poachers)

But four was an ideal number . I can’t remember if it was a Presidential plan or my suggestion ….but a return to our old favourite descent from Shining Tor was decided upon. Any thoughts of doing the original plan of Windgather and Taxal were rapidly scotched by Bern and my bad self getting keener on photography than actual biking. Troll & El Pres were not impressed …..

Once again it was fantastic light both before and after sunset . The weather can now be best described as “transitional” . It got slightly chilly up on the tops. A sensible jersey was a good plan.

We first did this route way back in the Autumn of 2011.http://android-finder.co.uk/?p=1596

I do believe this was our driest ever Hooleyhey traverse. The post sunset light over Lamaload was amazing.

Pub full of the Nancy Boys (ten plus) who have been on three separate rides.
The new Troll TNR diet : Crisps for starters and crisps for desert. Steak baguettes for the value boys.
The Troll was on fire on his new Trek 29er.
Layers needed on departing the pub.
