TNR 15-10-2015 Cheshire Corkscrew

Words and pics (in due course) by Pete

Crew : El Pres, Slim, Phil B, Butty & Kersh

Pub & catering logistics maestro : Dunc

Weather – Mild, dry and then cool wind on the tops.

Route: Rainbow Bridge – Endon Hall Lane – western traverse to Kerridge summit – eastern descent to Rainow – jumper lane – blaze hill – Smith Lane – the Cheshire Corkscrew – Pymms chair ascent from Jenkin Chapel – Windgather /Taxal Edge – Kettleshulme – Bakestonedale Rd – Pott Shrigley – The Poachers

Notes:

Dark almost from the start of the ride now.

We were treated to a Presidential Special, and a route heading North from a Tythy friendly muster point as well. And it was topped off with a Bollington finish. Hope that does not yet appear in the Urban Dictionary;-) Spoiling us he was, well apart from the small matter of 2700ft of climb.

It was an unusual route with some well known bits….and other bits not visited for a long while. All credit should be given to El Pres for taking on route leadership, stopping any Kersh mutiny and providing a proper Thursday Night Ride.

I feel a need to impart some “thank you” –

El Pres for the route choice

Dunc – for ordering me food at the Pochers

and Phil B – keeping me company at the back …and educating me on the history of the Cheshire Corkscrew…and its part in the London Edinburgh Classic Trial
