TNR 1-10-2015 Fast n Dry

Crew: Butty,El Pres, Mr I, 3 Sheds, G, Stunt

Pub: Dunc

Route: BL, Hurdsfield Road, Lidgetts Lane, Lower Kerridge, Rainow, Oakenbank lane, Pott Shrigley, Bakenstone dale road, Layby ascent to the stile, quarries descent, chapel descent, Styperson pool, Vale

Conditions: Clear, mild, very dry trails

Notes:

Indian summer continues, hazy orange and red skies (“Pollution is beautiful isn’t it” quips Butty), and a gathering of the crew at the lidgetts lane gate onto kerridge…well gate is now an optimistic term for a pile of wood no longer attached to any hinges or top rail! one for Pete’s series of Knackered gates of the norther shires 😉

..or it would have been if he wasn’t off to the emerald isle for a meet up with Luc.

Superdry (no not the brand of Japanse clothing that is so popular with fashion conscious folk) – but the state of the trails – even the muddy snicket across to the rainow road was dusty dry!!

More photo opportunities of white nancy being black against the instachrome light on the start of Oakenbank, then lights on & whizz down!

Soon we are at the layby and the start of the climb is still wet (some things you can rely on), but the grass therafter is grippy. A couple of lights higher up turn out to be some lads who need our knowledge on where they are and how to get back on course 🙂

Tonights route is designed to get some good decents in , and get to the vale early enough for food. So no wandering across the tops to bowstones. Instead straight over the stile, down the rocky descent, and then across to the chapel – perfect conditions 🙂

Time for some hooning in the woods – some nice tight berms! some casual nettle rash 🙁 and on to the pub.

8:40 suprises us all – coz its not been that short a ride (those dry trails run fast it seems)

Pub is empty!! they are pleased to see us (unsuprisingly), and the Light Nancy is ace. A few folk appear to be StopTobering – Butty properly, G (apart from Thursdays!!).

Dunc arrives and gives insights into the “El Pud is working in my office” experience that has begun this week!

Debriefs on bivvying with Nick, Kersh as theatre critic, idiot proof lead/follow drones, Octoberfest & advance notice of an urban bivvy for Leek in November to sample the new beer shoppy.

Cold post pub!
