TNR 21-2-2013 Wind Chill

From TNR 21-02-13 Wind Chill

Crew: PTD, El Pres, Mr Incredible, 3 Sheds, Eric, Dunc, Butty, TJ, Stunt

Pub: Slim

Route: BL, Teggs, Resevoir, lower descent, shutlingsloe steps, back of the moon, standing stone, forest chapel, lower charity, narnia, hardingland, Sutton hall.

Conditions: -2 with a bitter wind, trails freeze dried and dusty

Stats:

Offs – El Pres, Mr Incredible

Faffs – 3 Sheds tweaks his spokes

Notes:

late forum posting attempting to hijack start point are given short shrift by an assertive Stunt! …so we meet as planned at BL (To find that neither offender actually makes the start!!)

PTD suggests a plan B route as high winds affecting the high route, Top of Teggs bad enough 🙁

Dry trails makes for good riding…if you can feel your fingers!

Plenty of uphill to warm up before the bermy singletrack – jumps have evolved again, and the big bomb hole catches out El Pres 🙂

long grind to Shutlingsloe steps then into the evil wind.

frozen mud is only skin deep as Eric and Stunt find out – but it’s easy to pick off as it freezes before soaking in.

PTD blows his forking chambers at the bottom of the back of the moon.

Comms finally established with a very late Slim – but he is not in position to enjoy chilled Baileys at the Narnia bench (Nil points for Mr I for forgetting the Kaluha!)

Chilled riders hot foot to pub via hardingland (watch out for frozen ruts on the flat bits mr I!)

PTD nips home to swap bikes and then fails to id TJ doing his usual one direction navigation (and hence missing in action for 20 mins)

Blond Witch the best of the brews, what no chips with falafel pittas! Conversation and Tandem talk congregates around the open fire to finally get warm, inner warmth from malts and into the bitter night. Mr I discovers a very unwelcome puncture 🙁

warmer next week??
