crew : Slim, Dan, Kersh, 3sheds, The Doog
In da pub : Eric
Route : Rainbow Bridge, Oak La, Endon Hall Snicket, Lidgetts, Bull Hill, Shining Tor Tea Rooms, Shining Tor ….Lama load, road to The Poachers !!
conditions : Humid and threatening rain in Macclesfield, cold , cloudy and eventually very wet up on the hill.
stats : 16 miles, about 1800 ft climb (thanks Dan)
Notes :
It was supposed to be a small shakedown ride to ensure all was tickety boo with my new Rockshox on the Cotic before the rigours of Mayhem. As I was the only one “destined for Mayhem”, and the rest of them had not already commuted 84 miles that week, the rest of the crew turned it into a proper ride.
Conditions ended up being a prediction of the Mayhem wetness, but the Peak District mud was nothing compared to what I was about to enjoy in Ledbury. …
Good to see Mr D again, bringing the inclement weather of a good British Solstice with him ??
I supposed the biggest event of the evening was our return to The Poachers after a prolonged absence. Beer was very good (Especially Challenger from Tintern, Devon) and , as a connoisseur of Gammon , Egg and Chips, I have to compliment our hosts on their take on this classic post-wet-MTB-ride dish.
