Notes :
Build it & they will come . I had been meaning to sort out a BBQ at our gaff sometime in the summer and this week it all lined up.
The promise of beer & banter brought the distant ones and country members out of the woodwork .
And to top it all it was Butty’s birthday this week .
The gang of reprobates was duly assembled at Gleave Ave , and we had a TNR first of a naughty descent of the snicket to Chancery Lane . Fortunately without colliding with any pedestrians in the process .
Out to Pott Shrigley via Spuley Lane as Paul wanted to try the Stage 5 Enduro route once again
At Moorside lane we had the first E-bike vs Acoustic route diversions . The e-boys took the steeper line up by the Park Moor boundary wall , whilst the acoustic group (snigger) winched & pushed their way up to the Whales molar by taking the plantation track.
We reassembled at the top , where Butty and TJ rustled up some bourbon based Rusty Nails to celebrate the birthday. And Butty showed us his new toy – a fairly nifty DJI drone .
After our refreshments, and drone entertainment …Chris , Mr McD and myself took the standard descent down to the Bakestonedale wood lay-by. Paul lead the rest on “Stage 5” and we regrouped at Moorside Lane.
Time to begin to return to Upper Bollingtonia methinks – and Butty suggests we take the chapel route back . In glorious , clear evening light with great views Westwards .
Back at Gleave Ave there was an apres bash to end all apres . As host I was a little too busy sorting out food & drinks to enjoy it fully at the time . The nibbles and guacamole went down well , then steaks and even a full-on cheese course with red wine.
The drivers and the wise ones left early …but the AOE became self propelled . Indeed , I ended up having an extra guest staying over as he was too refreshed for his own good.
