Oh I do like it when a plan comes together . TJ had floated the idea of a post ride gathering in his back garden a week or two back .
It started with a Bollingtonia rendezvous on the viaduct . Where Paul kindly fixes the damage to my mudhugger rear mudguard which I had failed to notice before leaving my garage .
Never underestimate the ingenuity of PTD and his Gorilla tape !
Butty arrived and took full advantage of his e-advantage to get us climbing a local circuit , the up side being that this gave us all a hefty appetite for what was awaiting us back in Poynton.
Fortunately it was cold and dry for most of the ride , but as we headed along the canal towpath towards the Jackson homestead it started a gentle drizzle . A warning of what was to come.
As we stopped under a canal bridge somewhere a bit north of Adlington , waiting for TJ to catch us up , Butty and a few others spotted something “cat-sized” drop from the opposite bank into the water. Best guesses are either a Mink or an Otter .
Once we arrived at the Jackson estate it was “all systems go” …fire pit quickly started ..beers distributed and the pie extravaganza was underway.
I was a little worried that I may have seriously over – specced the pie demand , but everything (bar one Cheese & Onion) was scoffed .
And then Butty produced desert of Ginger cake and brandy sauce
As the showers began to arrive TJ managed to produce some handy “Tarpaulin” type covers , and we constructed our own version of a refugee camp . We kept fairly dry but in the process we got a bit smoked up . Kippered !
