Crew : Pete , Butty , El Pres, Bern , PTD , Dunc, Dr S
Pub : Kersh
Route: Rainbow bridge, Snickets to Tythy and past water treatement works and Under the railway by the golf course, Bollin valley to Prestbury, Chelford Road, Finlow Hill Lane, Bradford Lane, Hocker Lane , Slade Lane, Findlow Hill Lane (again), And then back to Prezzas and up to the Springwood
Conditions : Cold , fairly dry, and starlit . Freezing on departure from the Springwood
Notes :
Our first “its dark at the start” ride of the autumn .
It was flipping cold but dry and clear – ideal conditions for a little venture West – and it felt like a long time since we had done so.
Before we even got through Tythy Dunc had to return to base to fix a disintegrating pedal .
I nicked/recycled a route from Feb 2020 (but dropped the Windmill Wood loop)
Highlights :
- A blissfully quiet and calm ride once we were off the main roads
- Stargazing on Finlow lane corner(Cassiopeia and the Pleiades I recall ) whilst sipping whisky
- Paul , bless him, had brought an Aberlour 10 year old Malt ! (And already done 12 miles before we began the TNR)
- A lack of mud
- A virtually empty Springwood Beefeater and very attentive staff
Lowlights
- Mechanicals for Bern …a chain snap and a loose calliper
- Frosty saddles on our exit from the Beefeater (0.2C when I got home)
