Crew: PTD, El Pres, Troll, Butty , Pete
Pub: Dunc & Biggus Nickus
Route : BL , Zig (but no Zag) Old Buxton Rd , Rear Entrance to Teggs, Several Loops around the top, Steps descent , Five Clouds .
Conditions : Blowy and getting colder. Slippy near the bottom of Teggs !
Notes:
Paul took up Ops leadership once again 🙂
We got stuck in a “groundhog day” type vortex of Teggs Nose footling about . But it was excellent fun.
Paul showed us how he has knackered his knees over the years on the viscous little up and downs that surround the top of Teggs Nose.
There was at least one that we all refused…it being near vertical .
We visited the little sheep fold / artisan shelter at the summit twice…on the second occasion Paul produced a wee “Sharpener” to prepare for us for the descent.
So , as I lose my front wheel grip in a slide near the big gate to the car park , and land with a heavy thump on my right thigh…..was it the sharpener, was it the far too highly inflated tyres, was it the tyres ? or my own inability to ride . …. Luckily the only damage is a big bruise .
Now to the thorny issue of our post ride refreshment venue …there is some debate but El Presidente decrees a visit to the Five Clouds…
and it is then a bit of “everyman for himself” until we get to the town centre .
it is a fine establishment where you can wheel your bike through the bar and park it inside ….and the beer choice is mighty fine .
A 30% discount at Pizza Express just for drinking in Five Clouds ! marvellous , and they deliver .
Our very own Eric and Ernie ….(Biggus and Dunky) arrive to bring The ribaldry and Tomfoolery to an appropriate crescendo.
A fine night indeed…
