Notes :
What a difference a week makes.
Last weeks beastly easterly and low cloud have been replaced with 25c at 6:45pm and azure blue sky.
Alex comes up with the idea for some al fresco dining at the end of our weekly ride but unfortunately he has to drop out.
Enthusiasm runs high. WhatsApp buzzing with camp fire cooking logistics and nosh choices.
The fine weather helps charm out Kersh and cCroxy . And Coley is now sufficiently recovered to join us. Marvellous. Its like getting the band back together.
Heavily laden bags steer us to an early visit to the camp site .
then the joy of a relatively dry …and a wee bit dusty …descent of charity to the Narnia turn. the setting sun creates a fantastic atmosphere on the Narnia descent
….down to witches cottage ..or more properly Dimples Farm where the sharp eyed Mr K spots a little bit of a historical exhibit (see photo) . This humble ruin has history.
On to a loose descent of hardingland and all the way down to Teggs Nose reservoir .
A long winch back up past the Leathers and up the left hand side of the forest . Evening light getting better all the time .
UU still have not cleared all the trees but thankfully they are easy to get around now.
A baby crescent moon hangs in the sky.
By the time Coley and I arrive at the start of charity the beer has been delivered and the advance part are hard at work.
Fire is going in no time, Troll has brought appetisers, The Doog a wee dram to celebrate his birthday and a truck load of craft beer .
he deserves a knighthood.
Some kind soul has left a BBQ grill in a local tree so in no time at all the bangers are sizzling on the fire and the banter gets in to full swing.
Butty brings ground sheets – we are properly organised !
By midnight the departures start …but its a relatively mild descent to Macc . Still 13C when i get home !
A wonderful evening. We are blessed.
