Crew: El Pres, PTD, Troll, TJ, Butty , Pete, Bern
Route : BL , Zig Zags, old Buxton road track, charity, extension, standing stone, lower fire road (inc new Bench stop), rezzies, Sutton Hall
Stats: one phantom tubeless faff, one frozen rear mech faff, one disintegration of drive chain faff…all Butty.
Pete was early and the first at BL muster point.
Clear and cold, -1c when we got home.
The last TNR of 2017
It was shaping up as a re run of the TNR Xmas cocktails ride the previous week but…..Butty tyre faff conspired to build in a bit too much delay.
He stopped to put a bit of air in his tubeless rear tyre. He stopped a second time to repeat the process .
By the bottom of charity extension he decided it would have to be Tubed !
Only to discover…it already had one inside! Our first instance of “phantom tubeless” ?
Butty’s
Troubles would later move on to more drive train hassle. Resulting in a post 1am return to base in Poynton.
The descent of Charity Lane was massive fun, we followed Pauls instructions to “ drop you seats , go fast and get your arse wet “ ..is it water?, is it ice?, it all adds to the fun.
We did manage to squeeze in a wee celebratory snack and tipple before the descent to Sutton Hall, and it was truly a group effort .
Here is the Tally :
Our very own gastronomic Troll – Home smoked venison
Bernard- chocolate cake with almonds
TJ – Home made Apple cake
TJ – Rusty nails made with Dalwhinnie
PTD – Whiskey macs
El Presidente showed excellent operational leadership skills and phoned in our food order to Sutton Hall as we quaffed …
and in no time at all we were in the welcome warmth and gathered around the warmth of the fireplace.
And for once I managed to take control of fire replenishment without invoking the wrath of the pub management .
Hoegarden and Xmas Ale were the order of the day. No AofE at SH….although I believe a select one happened on Blakelow Rd .
