Words and Pics by Pete
Crew : Shaun, Pete, TJ , Butty, El Pres, The Troll, 3Sheds
Route: RB – Redway Tavern track – Reverse Kerridge Ridge Bridleway – Unorthodox Exit to Rainow – Bull Hill – Charity- Narnia – The Leathers
Stats : One chain jam for TJ (Totally self inflicted)
Conditions : Thankfully dry (more or less) . 8C when we start and decidedly cool at the top of the forest .
Notes:
You know that TNR Crew succession planning is not just an aspiration when PTD’s lad is actively organising this week’s ride via WhatsApp. His Dad’s priorities had got confused this week 🙂 .
Seven was the magic number this week, and a Rainbow Bridge start which led on to a return to the Forest .
Is now more or less dark from the start of the ride but the trails are 80% dry. The Autumn moon was doing some very spooky stuff with the clouds as we crossed the back of the Kerridge Ridge.
An unorthodox route down and across to Rainow brought us out on a footpath opposite the road to Lamaload – no confrontations with residents thankfully.
By the time we got to the start of Chazza TJ had his bike upended and was struggling to deal with a decidedly jammed chain.
A quick diagnosis from young Shaun found the root cause : a blatant case of “Total Neglect Maintenance Systems LTD” (just check out the pictures of the jockey wheels)
A shortish ride tonight, and we cut right into Narnia and once more sampled its delights and challenges …especially the washed out bits as you get to witches cottage !! there are big holes were there were no holes before.
The Leathers beckons, and once more we enjoyed its hospitality …with Carol looking after us very well. Much talk of distilling !
There was even a second round of drams to celebrate Pete’s birthday .
