I have a weather app on my iPhone. Up till now I have considered it the “dogs doo dahs” accurate forecast of how cold and wet down to a matter of minutes. This time it was predicting a 3% chance of precipitation in the hours of our riding…. I learnt to regret trusting this forecast from the ascent of Charity onwards …by forest chapel we had decided this damp wet white stuff is getting us far too wet….and figurative Bugle of defeat was sounded, the cry went out “retreat” and “everyman for himself” …and we abandoned to Sutton Hall.
Meanwhile..Dunc had disappeared of to join “the Dukes” and returned late on to Sutton Hall with tales of achieving Three Shires.
It soon became “Leffe O’clock” at Sutton Hall for quite a few of us….apart from an unusually temperate Butty
