TNR 10-07-2014 – As Slack as a slack thing ……

Words by Eric

Crew; Coley, Butty, Slim, Eric

In the pub; Mrs A, Charlie (dog) and Billy (another dog).

Lame excuses; Everyone else was packing their bags for the Doog weekender …. I ask you !

Route A: Rainbow bridge, Middlewood Way, Windmill

Route B: Marple, Middlewood Way, Windmill
Conditions; Very pleasant
Stats; Non

Offs; Would we admit to anything

Notes;
Butty took on the leadership mantle with a proposal for a roady ridey but in the end it turned out to be a two ended railway line.
Slim the commuter and Butty met at one end all crossed and Eric and Coley started from the other, Coley very retro even down to the cap and Eric trying out the racing steed pre the weekend Rhynog Raptor.
So it was off down the Middlewood way to the rendezvous point, occasionally being overtaken by folks in traccy bottoms on Halfords specials.
Following the rendezvous, route options were discussed – and rejected in favour of a route Grande Direct to the Windmill.

So is it a TNR record, in the pub by 7.45?

Peroni was the only option and all comments about the barmaid have been censored.

So as we sat watching the sunset and the passers by one Peroni slipped into two Peroni as the song goes, and all became well with the world. We toasted Coley’s return to the waged and welcomed Mrs A and Billy and Charlie.

The only mild embarrassment was when a citizen obviously impressed by our bikes and “serious” cycling gear asked if we’d come far !

We ought to do this more often – but not too often
