Dan Barlow 1981-2014
If a man’s wealth is measured in the happiness he creates in his friends and family, then Dan was a millionaire many times over.
Thursday was a very difficult day for the TNR crew. I never dreamed that we might end up toasting the memory of Dan Barlow with G and T on a dark and cold night in February 2014.
But it was fitting.
For it was in Macc Forest that we “found” Dan on the 25th October 2007 as he was out solo riding. Our own Mowgli.
That chance encounter was a blessing from above. I have never known a more enthusiastic and warm person. He had such a zest for all aspects of life.
It has been a honour to ride with him, from our humble Thursday night gatherings to the big events like Mayhem and the South Downs Way. So many shared laughs over the post ride pints.
When it comes to mountain bike “know how”, Dan was our guru. A walking Encyclopaedia of all things two wheeled. And he shared that knowledge so freely.
Our hearts go out to Katie and their two daughters, Isobel and Holly , as well as their wider family.
