PTD has persuaded us to explore the path heading left back up to the steps by the ford, as we\u2019ve not done it for ages, and it should be dry.<br>He\u2019s not wrong, higher up the shrubbery on the RH side of the path has been cut back to the stumps\u2026showing just how steep the slope is should you come off the trail! Nice final descent \u2013 as long as you avoid spaniels ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are united with Smiffy and Lee at the bottom reservoir, and Troll at Leathers.<br>A chatty climb to Nessit is topped with Cuba Libre\u2019s at Dan\u2019s bench with some of Shaun\u2019s triple gold medal winning rum, coke and a splash of line juice, very nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maccaustinsorguk\/54412469937\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"20250320iPhone 15 Pro MaxiPhone 15 Pro Max back triple camera 6.765mm f-1.78IMG_6650\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54412469937_13faa230c1_z.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" alt=\"20250320iPhone 15 Pro MaxiPhone 15 Pro Max back triple camera 6.765mm f-1.78IMG_6650\"\/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Continuing our theme of taking the path less travelled, it\u2019s time to see if the singletrack off the bottom of the S bends is navigable\u2026and it is (although there are still some spiky bushes in places). El Pres suffers a whippy little branch flicking his nipple \u2013 apparently it stings like you know what!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maccaustinsorguk\/54413724220\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"20250320iPhone 14 ProiPhone 14 Pro back triple camera 6.86mm f-1.78IMG_6329\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54413724220_ee3b4a36d7_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"532\" alt=\"20250320iPhone 14 ProiPhone 14 Pro back triple camera 6.86mm f-1.78IMG_6329\"\/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p><br>A final climb up the Shutlingsloe steps \u2013 mind the yellow frog on the slabs, then across the matting (or in several places \u201cup slope\u201d of it) to the narrow gate. The down and up to &#8220;Back of the Moon&#8221; in excellent condition! Choice of Red or Blue run along the ridge and down the slope to the main track from Standing Stone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Team e head right to RV with Pizza boy, and the rest of us head to Ferriser to set up camp.<br>Trolls keg is filled with cloudy smooth slightly fruity ale (who\u2019d of thought it?), there is a big box of Brewdog cans, a fire is quickly going, and fuel is foraged<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Pizza\u2019s arrive \u2013 together with garlic and herb sauce sachets, which &#8220;condiment Chris&#8221; enjoys so much that it splatters over his neighbours shoe!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Stars are super clear, plenty of satellites too, and long exposure shots capture many more than the eye can see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maccaustinsorguk\/54413724205\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"20250320iPhone 15 Pro MaxiPhone 15 Pro Max back triple camera 6.765mm f-1.78IMG_6656\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54413724205_206fbe0625_z.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"640\" alt=\"20250320iPhone 15 Pro MaxiPhone 15 Pro Max back triple camera 6.765mm f-1.78IMG_6656\"\/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Croxy is full of praise for the Altrincham everyman cinema\u2019s 11:30am \u201cSilver Screening\u201d (with coffee and cake!) and for Black Bag ..no not the famous viz sheepdog parody \u2013 but Cate Blanchett in spy thriller!<br>Grumblings about Shimano Gravel\/MTB brake incompatibility (Coley to the rescue with the special adaptor tool), and you know your offspring have borrowed your riding shorts when you find their bank card in your pocket ?<br>Brewdog stout not up to the high standards of Titanic Plum Porter or Wincle\u2019s Old Hag, but the Elvis juice is always a highlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Dunc joins us, then experiences a moment of plastic \u201cnapalm\u201d when the bottle formerly containing the Cuba Libre pops on the fire! Luckily its only a few leg hairs which get taken out (time for a roady leg shave?)<br>Plenty of ribaldry too, and a lot of poking the fire with a stick.
