Butty with onboard temperature tech claimed a -10 on the way here! Colder lower down than higher up apparently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maccaustinsorguk\/52582843776\/in\/dateposted\/\" title=\"20221215-IMG_8810.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52582843776_2372f9c5c9_c.jpg\" width=\"533\" height=\"800\" alt=\"20221215-IMG_8810.jpg\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>A quick check of who we are expecting, then off over crunchy snow up the Zig with ice crystals sparking from all surfaces. With ice a potential worry, the Zag is missed out and we head up the main track to Teggs, which turns out to be either dry or snowy, just a couple of patches of sheet ice mainly at the gates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cocktail bar is soon open!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maccaustinsorguk\/52583361108\/in\/dateposted\/\" title=\"20221215-IMG_8817.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52583361108_b25e1403d6_c.jpg\" width=\"533\" height=\"800\" alt=\"20221215-IMG_8817.jpg\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>Pigs in blankets snackage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PTD&#8217;s Blue one&#8230;Rum, blue curacao, mango Juice and peach snapps (fruity)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>then Trolls Hot buttered rum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With more drinks on offer, it seems sensible to pause here, do the Teggs decent, and reconvene at Bobs Bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again just need to watch out as you go through the gate, then its all dry or crunchy snow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All safely down to the car park, a traverse across the Langley reservoir dam (and a little dog who was a bit freaked out by Santa on a bike), then up to the Leathers (and a quick chat with John re ETA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maccaustinsorguk\/52582848826\/in\/dateposted\/\" title=\"20221215-IMG_8835.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52582848826_55860375fc_c.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" alt=\"20221215-IMG_8835.jpg\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>The optimists were opting for a Dans Bench stop, the pessimists straight to Bobs. A compromise was to go halfway up, cut into the singletrack trails, and arrive at Bobs having done more than a token ride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maccaustinsorguk\/52583108094\/in\/dateposted\/\" title=\"20221215-IMG_8834.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52583108094_416a089522_c.jpg\" width=\"533\" height=\"800\" alt=\"20221215-IMG_8834.jpg\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>We all went up, but there were many and varied ways to Bobs &#8211; all good \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fresh refreshments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Homemade manchego and tomato biscuits from the Troll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mulled wine with secret ingredient of sloe gin from Bern<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whisky mac with benedictine from PTD <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jaqui&#8217;s famous mince pies<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and the PTD &#8220;Backup&#8221; cocktail a somewhat cloudy concotion, Brandy, cointreau and cider.
