It was to be a stark contrast to last week&#8217;s placebo of a ride .Even Mr K joined us this week. <\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maccaustinsorguk\/26600297630\/in\/album-72157668091767345\/\" title=\"IMG_7618\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7750\/26600297630_863805d50c.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" alt=\"IMG_7618\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>After Waulkmill Wood descent Dunc led us over the paved path which spans the fields to Rainow. As the path reaches Rainow it skirts a house&#8230;where the residents and their curious pooch greeted us with smiles and good humour ..we had anticipated &#8220;gerroff my laaannd&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The climb up Smith Lane is never easy. Our reward was the descent of a surprisingly rideable &#8220;Cheshire corkscrew &#8221;<br \/>\nThe slog up to Pym&#8217;s chair is&#8230;well just a slog. Your correspondent was reduced to &#8220;tacking&#8221; for a good proportion of the climb. I believe there may have been mutterings from Mr Ball<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maccaustinsorguk\/26839251876\/in\/album-72157668091767345\/\" title=\"IMG_7622\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7083\/26839251876_d0368054b3.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" alt=\"IMG_7622\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Once at the top it was noticeably cooler..so extra layers were donned and the &#8220;hooning&#8221; to Taxal commenced. <\/p>\n<p>It was not long before our Ops Manager&#8217;s hooning was brought to an abrupt halt by a suddenly distorted rear tyre. <\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maccaustinsorguk\/26267959414\/in\/album-72157668091767345\/\" title=\"IMG_7633\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7273\/26267959414_630d550246.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" alt=\"IMG_7633\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The steed was upended. The crew gathered around the patient for a diagnosis.<br \/>\nFortunately Dunc remained sufficiently in control of proceedings to prevent a Kershaw Kill or Cure mending approach, and the vicinity was mercifully lacking any large rocks or bits of tree :-).<br \/>\nScience prevailed and we were soon hooning Taxalwards again. <\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maccaustinsorguk\/26873387335\/in\/album-72157668091767345\/\" title=\"IMG_7626\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7327\/26873387335_571792c522.jpg\" width=\"384\" height=\"500\" alt=\"IMG_7626\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>All that hoon has to be paid for &#8230;The final slog up from Kettleshulme dip to Bakestonedale Rd was a grin-and-bear-it affair &#8230;but its always good to crest the top knowing its all down hill to The Poachers (more or less) .<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maccaustinsorguk\/26839196556\/in\/album-72157668091767345\/\" title=\"IMG_7635\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7218\/26839196556_893b29bc63.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" alt=\"IMG_7635\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Dunc had pre-ordered nosh from a mid-hoon halt (before the last walled section to Taxal) &#8230;this meant we could arrive at 9.30 and have huge platefuls of monster Chicken and chorizo pie plonked down in front us.
