Route<\/strong>: Crewe & back taking in the whole of Cheshire (East and West) Hassall Green, Scholar Green, Mow Cop, Rushton Spencer, Heaton (feed station #1), Wincle, Sutton, Gawsworth, Siddington, Twemlow, Holmes Chapel (feed station#2), Church Minshull, Beeston Castle, Tattenhall (feed station #3), Malpas, Crewe.<\/p>\n

Weather<\/strong>: Cold (5 deg) cloudy and no wind. Gore windstopper the right answer. The sun appeared briefly in the second half of the ride.<\/p>\n

Stats<\/strong>: 100 miles, 3 TNR-ers and no mechanicals (is this a first?). Slim \u2018dabs\u2019 on Mow Cop due to inappropriate gearing, heavy camelback and mudguards (and lack of meat-based snacks \ud83d\ude09 )<\/p>\n

Time on bike \u2013 6hr 43mins, Total elapsed time \u2013 7hr 57 min<\/p>\n

Joined by Brendan from the Duk\u2019s for the first 50 when he took the planned 67 mile route.<\/p>\n

Big queues at start, early feed station and finish.<\/p>\n

New head scanning timing sticker \u2013 make sure you wave your helmet past the BSB square-ial like timing system.<\/p>\n

Not a baggy short or uppy-downy seat post in sight \u2013 a refreshing change for the TNR roadie contingent<\/p>\n

Slow and steady was order of the day, until Pete got on the front in the last \u00bd of the course where sprint & die seemed to be mis-guided tactics for an endurance event.<\/p>\n

Dunc cheered up by gentle panting (with built in moan) from a female over taker on hills near plastic animals near Rushton (a.k.a. “the Lama Fields”)<\/p>\n

What kind of Beef was in Pete\u2019s lunchtime butties? (rumours of clembuterol)<\/p>\n

P0rn mirage in west Cheshire.<\/p>\n

Dreams of cups of tea and chicken dinners on the way back from Tattenhall \u2013 High 5 and bananas less appealing.<\/p>\n

Pathetic attempt to sprint into Crewe, scuppered by a 1 in 50 rise \u00bc mile from the finish reduced to a grovelling pace across the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
